Independence Day - Fourth of July

Fourth of July is celebrated annually in commemoration of freedom and independence of The United States of America. The country was under English rule until 1776. In June that year Thomas Jeffersson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Philip Livingston and Roger Sherman formed a committee and composed a declaration of independence. It was presented on June 28, 1776 and open for vote on July 4, 1776. Out of 13 colonies 9 voted in favour thus creating the independent American state.

First celebrationa took place in 1777 and it has been marked since by parades, picnics, family gatherings and fireworks.
