Are we hiring? Yes and no. We have no open positions and don't offer full time employment. Having said that, we are on a mission to create the absolute best greeting cards on the net, and to achieve this goal, we are always interested in speaking with talented artists who think they can help us take our greetings to the next level.
BirthdayAlarm is always looking for talented artists who have great ideas. We are not looking for flash experts who dabble with artwork, rather we are looking for true artists: animators, cartoonists, illustrators, 3D animators, videographers or live action directors, anybody who can create spectacular 30-45 second greeting cards.
We're interested in anything that can be shoved through Flash8, this includes live action, stop motion animation, flash animations or any other great way to say happy birthday.
Please do not send us a CV, references or links to non-animated work. You could be straight out of high-school or be an A-list hollywood director, we just want to know how brilliant your work is. Email us a short introduction along with a few links to existing samples.
You *must* have true storytelling talent, as greeting cards are all about emotion and message.
All our artists are freelance, and we pay per card, so please include a rough fee/card.
Technically, you must be able to deliver a product that can be squeezed through Flash 8 or lower, does not make unnecessary demands on bandwidth, and looks good in a 530x300px window.
You must be able to produce a 30-45 second audio skit (delivered as an mp3) that is a fully developed sketch for a birthday card. You should do the VO work, music and SFX. The skit should either be a song parody, celebrity parody or a fully developed audio sketch that can be given to our animators to animate.
Please do not send us a CV, references or links to non-audio work. We just want to know how good your audio work is, so please email us a short introduction along with a few links to existing audio samples.
All our artists are freelance, and we pay per card, so please include a rough fee/card.
We are seeking to provide better content for BirthdayAlarm's global audience, and are thus actively interested in both animators and voice-over artists from all the major language groups worldwide. You must be able to communicate in English, and the same guidelines apply as those mentioned above.
We may be interested in creating greetings based on licensed characters. Please do contact us if you represent a recognizable global brand or character. However we are not interested in licensing cards from other sites, acquiring "whitelabel" cards, or entering any revenue-share/royalty agreements.
BirthdayAlarm hired Morgan Sowden as their Art Director in October 2004. Since then the site has grown to have a library of over 2000 live greetings. Morgan's team of approximately 50 freelance artists and musicians span the globe. From San Francisco to Seville, Sarajevo and Shanghai, Morgan manages this dynamic team to continuously produce new content. We allow a lot of creative freedom and encourage out-of-the-box thinking. We do not work well with outsourced facilities, so please do not contact us if you are representing a group or corporation. We like working with talent directly.
